Now, this is something I thought would never become a problem at Celtic.

Especially after last season’s crazy summer transfer window where Ange Postecoglou faced a race against time to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

As it turned out, the Celtic manager got his recruitment spot on and managed to get enough quality in over the two windows last season to win the league and cup double.

But now, it seems, the first team squad is needing a trim and, to be honest, there are players there that simply don’t fit into the manager’s plans.

There are players at the club who do have a future that are not getting as much game time as they would like. How does the manager address that?

That was the topic of conversation on the Press Box podcast when Graham Spiers asked journalist Stephen McGowan just how will Ange keep all these players happy.

McGowan replied, “I think an interesting side to this is players who probably think they should be starting games.

“Guys like Liel Abada and Giorgos Giakoumakis, who really have done nothing wrong.

“I mean, you see Liel Abada coming off the bench yesterday and scoring a terrific goal.

“Giakoumakis as well, who strikes me as the kind of player who needs to keep sharp and needs to keep playing games.

“But I just wonder whether there will be players who will feel that they absolutely should be in the starting eleven.

“And how Postecoglou will keep them from knocking at his door.

“Obviously, there’s going to be a lot of games coming up. It’s going to be a busy period. The season’s going to be disrupted heavily by a winter World Cup.

“So, I would imagine there will be a bit of rotation going on.

“He [Postecoglou] has to keep these multitude of options happy.

“And that’s not going to be easy.

“So yeah, he does have a lot of options and that is going to be a test for his man management, I think.”

It seems McGowan is suggesting that players could eventually become unhappy at being kept on the sidelines but I think that might be slightly premature.

This group of players trust the manager and his management. He is honest with them and he has said from day one that everyone at the club has a future as long as they buy into what he is trying to achieve at the club [Four Four Two].

And as far as I can see every single player that Ange has signed has done exactly that.

I think it’s a bit premature to talk of seeing players unhappy at Celtic Park. After all, we are only two games into the season.
