Celtic’s transfer business has been ramped up somewhat and with the announcement of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Daizen Maeda and Benji Siegrist already out there in the domain, it is common knowledge that the club are also looking for reinforcements in the defensive department.

With the transfer of Alexandro Bernabei expected in the coming days, the club should also be looking for an additional centre back to provide adequate cover.

Why if we have Stephen Welsh and Chris Jullien at the club I hear you ask?

With Jullien’s future uncertain, it would make sense to add another body to the position in the event that the Frenchman does move on.

And I think I may have found that man.

And he will cost not a thing.

Ukrainian centre back Yaroslav Rakitskyi is available for free after being released by Zenith St Petersburg and is still looking for a club.

The 6′ 2″ defender has 54 caps to his name and made his debut at the tender age of 20 years old for the Ukraine.

His trophy hall is incredible:

8 x Ukrainian Champion

6 x Ukrainian Cup winner

6 x Ukrainian Super Cup winner

 4 x Russian Champion

1 x Russian Cup

2 x Russian Super Cup

The guy is clearly a winner and has bags of experience that the club could use. Valued at £6m [Transfermarkt] and an average Sofa Score rating of 7.15, he is clearly a player that still has a lot to offer, even at 32 years old.
