The penalty Celtic should have been awarded no one seems to be talking about

VAR did it’s job yesterday, some people would say.

Not me.

It failed. Miserably and on more than one occasion.

The offside given against Kyogo was a ridiculous decision as the striker was moving away from the goal and when Hatate’s goal was chopped off, I couldn’t understand it as I had thought the ball was played through after it rebounded off a Kilmarnock defender’s leg?

But it seems like it wasn’t a straightforward rebound after all.

Look at this:

The ball clearly didn’t hit the Kilmarnock defender’s leg like I first thought. It hit his outstretched arm.

This is strange as surely during the build-up to the goal Greg Aitken, who was the man in charge of VAR would have picked it up?

Not so it seems.

And it wasn’t even mentioned post-match. How was it missed?

VAR has been nothing but a joke in this country. Celtic have been getting punished by the new technology ever since it’s inception and it’s just getting worse.

Many will point to the Kilmarnock penalty and say, ‘See! It’s not a conspiracy!’ which, to me, makes no sense.

The Ayrshire club striker went down after a ‘challenge’ from Giakoumakis in the closing stages of the game, but for me, both players came together.

The striker was backing in, Giakoumakis moved forward to get the ball and momentum took them both down.

But it could have easily been given.

I suppose we will now hear the narrative that the decisions are starting to ‘even themselves out’ soon.

Any minute now.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?

Institutional bias against the hoops. The Celtic board are the only ones who can fight back but seem content as long as we are turning over a healthy profit £££

I shouted for a penalty before Hatate put the ball in the net.As for Kyogo’s offside? Utterly ludicrous when a player with his back to goal is given offside because the back of his foot was slightly offside ruining a superb piece of football.VAR was meant to help deal with contentious moments,Kilmarnock players didn’t even claim for an offside. To see that halfwit McInnes celebrating Celtic getting a goal chalked off just sums the serial loser up.Let’s see how VAR works today at Hampdump.

I thought you were going to talk about the incident just before halftime when two of our players were pulled to the ground in the box during a crossball(possibly from a corner?) which looked like a stonewaller…you know they, VAR, only look at incidents with a view to disallowing our goals, they’re not looking for handballs that could benefit us if nobody’s calling for it, and even if they are they’ll find an excuse not to award it when it suits them i.e. in a tight meaningful game!

The Killy one was soft, player went down too easily(maybe similar in the refs eyes to the Celtic claim i mentioned or other instances during the game where he waved play on when our players hit the dirt under challenges) and tbh I don’t think the ref fancied another 30 minutes in that weather

VAR is a joke in this country because of the poor quality (and self-interest) of those who use it. We are better off without it.
