The Window Is Creaking Open

Tottenham seems to be the favoured shopping centre and those Robbie Keane rumours refuse to die down. Spurs would probably still be looking for a hefty fee for a transfer (after all they did pay £7m for him, which was £5m less than Leeds had paid to Inter Milan) but a Craig Bellamy-type loan deal might just be on the cards.

Keane has only started four league games for Spurs this season and been sub eight times, so although a regular squad member he may be tempted by more regular games at least in the short term. He has scored three times so far in the Premiership this term, all away from home.

Perhaps a more likely Spurs target would be Stephen Kelly, the 22-year-old Irish full-back. He has played just twice this season and only 22 times in total since 2000 although he did spend most of 2003 on loan to Watford, QPR, and Southend. He is anxious for more first-team football, and again a loan deal may be in the offing.

Roy Keane is still looking for a new club, but it?s hard to see how he would represent value for money even if he were to sign on some kind of fancy pay-as-you-play deal.
