The thing I love about Celtic podcasts is the unknown.  The unknown bit of information that no one else has. The unknown joy of listening to Celtic supporters and their superb knowledge of not only their club, but football in general.

But sometimes you just get absolute podcast gems. Podcasts that pull a rabbit out of a hat and Tino, Miff and Keni certainly did not disappoint on their latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Podcast. The boys had special guest, Anthony Joseph, a multi award winning journalist who is now News Editor of Sky Sports News.

Talk on the podcast turned to how Joseph thinks what direction the club will go with regards to the managerial set up at Celtic Park and he had some extremely interesting thoughts on the subject,  “What they are looking at is modernising the club, and although they haven’t decided yet that they’re definitely going down the Sporting Director route is what’s being looked at and they’ve put feelers out already to a number of candidates.  But they’re also looking for a manager.

“And this poses a bit of a problem because a Sporting Director and a manager need to have a good relationship, and need to be a good fit for things to really work and Celtic are doing that in the same season. It’s going to be a tough one because if you get a Sporting Director then should they then have a say on who becomes manager?

Should Eddie Howe replace Neil Lennon?

YES

NO

“Do they have a relationship with the manager that they are also hoping to bring in?  I mean, Eddie Howe has been bandied about and so has David Webb. That would be a good fit in terms of David Webb and Eddie Howe, because they have that working relationship they have brought success to Bournemouth and from working together they are both project type appointments as well which I think is what Celtic need.”

Very interesting hypothesis from Anthony Joseph and certainly gives food for thought on who should be targeted for what is without doubt the most important turning point in Celtic’s most recent history.
