“Two letters sent by the Celtic club” – Overseas report makes exciting Celtic transfer claim

I knew this would happen.

Look, who am I kidding? We all knew this would happen.

As soon as Ange Postecoglou opened the cheque book to sign another player the transfer speculation ramps up to incredible levels.

But this is a story that has been consistently reported on in the last few weeks.

Iranian media outlet Irna, have reported that Celtic are still hot on the trail of Iranian international, Mehdi Ghaedi.

The report claims, “The Celtic club are desperately following Mehdi Ghaedi’s situation to bring the national player to Scotland in the winter window.

“Shabab al-Ahli has said no in two letters sent by the Celtic club and announced that by the end of the season he has no intention of cutting cooperation with Ghaedi, but the European side has announced that he is willing to pay Mehdi more than three and a half million pounds.”

Clearly a loss in translation, the claim is certainly meant to say the £3.5m is for the club, not the player.

Ghaedi comes highly recommended in his homeland but it is thought his club are extremely reluctant to sell due to their league position and challenge for the title.

The media in Scotland have not got much right these last few weeks in regards to Celtic transfers but could this report from Iran be accurate.

We won’t have long to wait to find out.
