They are most definitely in the firing line now.

The Celtic board have been hammered and grilled today for almost three hours and after much booing, gnashing of teeth and dodging of difficult questions, the suits have done themselves absolutely no favours to at least allay the fans fears in which direction they are taking the club.

But they did manager to do at least some magic.

They wiped two people from Celtic’s history as if they never even existed.

Two names not muttered by the board were two people that have played a massive part in Celtic’s most recent history. Dom McKay and Neil Lennon.

Dom McKay, although only in the position for three months, was a major player in getting current manager Ange Postecoglou to the club.

Depending on who you believe of course.

At the time of the appointment, McKay said, ““I have spent a lot of time in Australia and spent a lot of time in Japan so I knew all about Ange.

“And when the opportunity came to to speak to him, it was a great conversation. And it was a very productive, quick conversation.

“Probably one of the best conversations if not the best conversation I’ve had in the last five weeks.

“When I offered Ange the role he immediately accepted.”

Which would lead you to believe that Ange was his man. Not so says Ian Bankier as he claimed:

So there does seem to be a bit of dubiety around this matter. Whether or not McKay wasn’t mentioned at the AGM or even asked about is a determining factor to prove who hired who is open to conjecture.

The second, and probably most puzzling exclusion, was former boss Neil Lennon.

For a man that secured a Treble and won the majority of the nine titles in a row to be excluded from the AGM yet they managed, quite rightly, to do a complete video package on Scott Brown, is a serious slap in the face to Northern Irishman.

Yes, we all know the role he had to play in the collapse of last year, but let’s not forget, this is a guy the board loved so much, they allowed him to be hired in the showers while the soap was dripping off his dangly bits!

A guy so loved by the board, that as soon as he didn’t do their bidding, he was discarded like a used tissue.

In the record books, a legend. In the eyes of the board? A mere plaything and frontman that is no longer required and no longer remembered.

Shameful.
