Vakoun Issouf Bayo almost made his debut for Celtic on Wednesday night but an injury to Emilio Izaguirre meant he did not make his Paradise bow.

The Ivorian striker was fully kitted and waiting on the touchline to replace an attacker during the Hibernian clash, but after Darnell Johnson went in heavy on Izaguirre, the Honduran had to be stretchered off, with Jonny Hayes becoming the third and final substitution.

The 22-year-old looked disappointed and sent a message to supporters on Instagram shortly after the match.

Clearly he was delighted to see the team pick up a sixth successive win but he’ll be hoping he can make a first-team impact of his own when we return to action on Sunday against St Johnstone.

Given he is not included in the UEFA Europa League squad for the knockout stages, he cannot feature against Valencia and may be unleashed in the Scottish Cup clash so Brendan Rodgers can rest Oliver Burke, Timo Weah and Odsonne Edouard.

Signed for a reported £2m in January, fans are eager to see what he can offer, knowing he has already scored 18 goals in Slovakian football this season.

Can he become the club’s latest exciting forward?
