I’ve seen loads of people lose it with Celtic this season. But mainly supporters and about the board.

From how they handled the Bernard Higgins debacle, to the handling of the Dom McKay era to as far back as the Ange’s backroom team debate the board have copped it big style from the Celtic fans.

But what i wasn’t expecting was this.

A Scottish journalist  complaining about Hibs player, Paul McGinn, being banned retrospectively for his comments about the referee in the Premier Sports Cup final.

McGinn wasn’t happy when Beaton allowed Tom Rogic’s quick free kick to be taken which led to Kyogo’s second goal, and eventual winner, as the Hibs players claimed they were waiting on a substitute to be be brought on.

McGinn called the referee ‘inept’ and was subsequently banned for two games which includes the Monday night Celtic clash.

Journalist, Ewan Murray, took to twitter to show his disgust at the ban and weirdly brought the Celtic chairman, Ian Bankier, into his argument against the ban:

Clearly referencing the clubs AGM where Bankier spoke about referees after a question from the floor, the fatal flaw in Murray’s tweet, of course, is that Bankier didn’t single out a single referee in his comments and certainly did not cast any aspersions on any one referees performances.

What Bankier actually said was, “You are always concerned about the referees’ performance. We make representations on a regular basis to the chief executive of the SFA on refereeing.”

Highlighting the professional conduct that the club use when discussing referees with SFA directly. Not in public through the media.
