Celtic dealt a masterclass in football last night.
Admittedly, we had a nervy few minutes as we found our feet, but in reality, once we got going, there was only ever going to be one winner.
The goals eventually rained in as we ran out 4-0 winners but it was the reaction to Daizen Maeda’s goal, Celtic’s second that evoked an incredible reaction from the BBC Sportsound commentator John Rankin and fellow pundit Leanne Crichton revealed how Ange responded to the goal:
What was great, and I should have included the full audio, was that thirty seconds beforehand, the commentary team were berating Maeda for his three-yard header that rebounded off the bar.
Ange’s reaction is simply first class. ‘Rubbing his eyes almost waking himself up after what he has just seen‘ just tells you what the gaffer thought of Maeda’s sublime finish.
This is from a manager that seems to be phased by nothing.
Ange never goes over the top after a win. He always remains humble and he also never gets too animated should a result go against us.
Always calm and measured, the fact his reaction to Maeda’s goal was so visible to the commentary team tells you how special he believes Maeda’s goals was and the players is.
