As Celtic’s transfer speculation continues to dominate the headlines, along with other issues surrounding the club, the main question over the January window is just how many players will the Hoops bring in?

With Ange Postecoglou already heavily linked with three players from the Japanese J League, the pundits on The Go Radio Football Show, were discussing how many players the Celtic gaffer will bring in.

Stephen Craigan started the conversation when he said, “He’s [Postecoglou] not gonna go and say, I’ll bring a left back or right back, two midfield players, centre forward and two wide men. No, he’s probably going to bring in, you know, maybe four or five max.”

Co presenter, Craig Moore sounded astonished as he said, “You think as many as that?

Craigan went on, “Well, he’s linked with the three Japanese players.

“So if you think outwith that, he might think, ‘If I can get another one in, maybe two with a couple of younger ones possibly going to loan.’

“You want to just manoeuvre things. You won’t want to leave yourself short, particularly if they have a good run in the Europa Conference League.

“He doesn’t want to be asking the same players continually to play Thursday, Sunday, Thursday, Sunday, two internationals, Thursday, Sunday which is what he’s done the first half of the season.

“Because the depth of the squad hasn’t been there.

“Turnbull has started every single game for Celtic this season.

“Rogic has played somewhat and got injured.

“Kyogo has been playing every game, went away and on international duty and got injured so he’ll need to make sure he can protect himself so if he loses any, one or two quality players can some in.”

And I have to say, I agree with Craigan. I would expect a minimum of four players to join the club. One which should include a good back up keeper.

It will be a busy January and I, for one, am really looking forward to it.
