A new club have joined the race to sign Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata this summer, putting more pressure on contract talks that are due to resume when the player returns to the club after his summer break.

Boyata is currently enjoying some well earned time off after a third-placed finish at the World Cup with Belgium, with the Hoops set to renew contract discussions that stalled prior to him leaving for Russia.

However, the odds of signing him up to a new deal at Celtic Park seem increasingly slim, with another European club showing interest in taking him away from Glasgow.

The Scottish Sun report that French side Lyon, boosted by the £15m sale of defender Mouctar Diakhaby to Valencia, are now in the market for Boyata.

The paper reckon that the Ligue 1 outfit are set to test Celtic’s desire to keep the player, joining the likes of Lazio and Fulham in showing serious interest this summer.

With less than a year left on his contract at Celtic Park, the player is now facing a massive decision on his future and it’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers can convince him to stay, especially since the Hoops hardly have a huge amount options in the middle of the defensive line as it stands.
