His name has been bandied about now for a number of weeks and has been one of the bookmakers favourites to take over the Parkhead hot seat and today, he has been receiving some high praise and major backing from Gillingham boss, Steve Evans. Evans is a Celtic daft Glaswegian currently plying his managerial wares in England’s League One. The third tier boss is adamant that the Celtic fans would give Lampard a welcome to Celtic Park that would even eclipse that of former boss, Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Evans was singing the praises of the ex Chelsea legend and said Lampard would be his preferred option to take the gaffers role at Paradise, “Frank Lampard would be my choice.
“He’d inspire the proper side of Glasgow. Celtic need to appoint the highest profile manager.
“Rangers did that with Steven Gerrard, who’s doing a great job. He’s turned them around because he is an attraction. Players want to play for him.”

“Lampard would inspire by the way his teams are set up and also by the way he believes in young players which he demonstrated at Derby and Chelsea.
“Plus he could do it by his presence alone, just like Gerrard.

I’m not sure whether the current situation at Celtic would require a name like Lampard who has had less than three years experience as a manager, although on the flip side, he did take over Chelsea when they had a transfer embargo placed on them and still guided them to a top four finish and an FA Cup final that they lost to Arsenal.
