Ange Postecoglou faces potential backroom headache

Just as the new season kicks off and the Celtic first team looks settled, I bet the manager was looking forward to a smooth start to the season.

After the rollercoaster ride at the start of last season, it would be nice to start the defence of our title without any changes in first-team personnel.

But it seems it’s not the playing staff we should be worried about.

Ange could be faced with losing Celtic B team coach Darren O’Dea.

According to The Sun, O’Dea has emerged as a managerial target for SPFL side Motherwell.

The Steelmen parted company with manager Graeme Alexander after the disastrous Europa Conference League campaign where they were eliminated by Irish side Sligo Rovers 3-0 on aggregate.

It seems that O’Dea has emerged as one of the favourites to replace Alexander which could present Celtic gaffer Ange Postecoglou with a backroom headache.

The former Celtic defender is highly rated within Celtic Park with the work he has been doing with the B team under manager Stephen McManus.

And at a time when the club are trying to bolster the B team playing squad, it looks like they could be faced with having to replace a key backroom member of staff should he be approached and take up the top job at Fir Park.

Give us peace for God’s Sake you really can’t believe that Ange would lose any sleep over this.
He is a coach with B Team there will be other
    coaches ready to step in

Yep. You’re 100% spot on. No way would this impact players development to the first team. Ange doesn’t work closely with the B team coaches and he also doesn’t instruct them to play with the same tactics the first team does. He also doesn’t have a close working relationship with O’Dea either. 🙄

Charlie, I don’t mind criticism. It comes part and parcel with this job. I’ve taken plenty of criticism in my time. I don’t mind it. Its the beauty of being a Celtic fan and having the privilege of writing about this great club. But where I draw the line is where the criticism borders on being disrespectful. Object to my opinion by all means, but at least do it with humility. Now yours is nowhere near what I have experienced from other readers and maybe I was harsh in my reply. For that I apologise. I love it when readers engage. Its been a rough week. HH mate
