Just like clockwork, as speculation mounts on Antonio Conte’s job at Spurs, Ange Postecoglou is now being linked as a potential replacement for the Italian.

Conte announced that he intended to leave the London club weeks ago so quite why these rumours are now surfacing is beyond me.

Well, scratch that. We all know why, but I suppose the timing of the reports is more annoying than anything else.

As we gear up for an important Scottish Cup quarter final clash with Hearts, The Scotsman reports that Ange is on some sort of Spurs manager list.

He won’t leave us this season for Spurs. Now, I don’t for one second think that it’s not an attractive job. I would be worried about Ange being linked if it wasn’t for this interview he gave after defeating Hearts in the league.

After reaching his 100th match in charge of Celtic, Postecoglou paid tribute to the fans [The Scotsman], “I appreciate the support I have had from the fans since the day I arrived.

“I haven’t felt anything but support, even when it wasn’t that evident what we were doing.

“They got behind me and the team and that has never been lost on me. I want to repay that and I try to do that on a daily basis.”

This man has morals. He knows what he has at Celtic and he has not tried to pull the wool over the fans eyes at all since he began his tenure at the club.

Ange is an honourable man. He knows the support the fans gave him when the press were against him was vital to his success.

There is no way he would walk away when he is not even half way through the job he is doing right now.

Other jobs will come up, of course, but Ange will only leave when he knows the time is right.

Now is not that time.

Call yourself a true Celtic fan? How well do you know the European Cup winning season?
