Not normally one for saying anything positive of note about Celtic, journalist Hugh Keevins was fairly lavish in it after one of the goals of the day at Celtic Park.

A trip to Tynecastle has a history of being a tricky affair for us in the past but an early goal in a 3-0 win over the Jam Tarts set the narrative of the day in what was a fairly comfortable afternoon for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Aaron Mooy’s second-minute left-foot strike was a thing of beauty after Kye Rowles was sent for a pie by Jota and the Portuguese winger’s cross was expertly hammered home by the Celtic manager’s compatriot.

But it wasn’t Mooy’s strike that sent Keevins heart all a flutter.

It was Kyogo’s beautiful cross-goal finish that earned him this praise.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins said, “Player of the year.

“Everyone loves a goalscorer and in Scotland, there is no better goalscorer than this guy.

“It’s a wonderful cross from Alistair Johnston who grows more impressive by the week in a Celtic jersey.

“Tremendous finish from Kyogo and a psychological killer for Hearts.”

The Japanese striker netted his 26th goal of the season with not a penalty in sight. He has also assisted in six but it is not only his goal stats that the Celtic fans love.

His constant movement and work rate for the team is second only to Maeda’s and with that, he creates space and confusion in the opposition’s defence.

Player of the year? We’re not arguing with Hugh on that, are we?
