Brendan Rodgers tipped to make Celtic summer raid for Vardy replacement

|

On today’s Open Goal episode on YouTube,  Si Ferry and the boys had ex Rangers player, Andy Halliday, as a guest on the show. The first topic of conversation was Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard and his return to goal scoring form.  Edouard is the leagues top scorer with 20 so far this season but recently has been clinical in front of goal with eight goals in his last six appearances.

Ferry was discussing Edouard’s form and asked co host, Kevin Kyle, if he thought the big Frenchman was playing for a move. Kyle replied, “It’s a hard one Si, because he’s got the ability to get a big move. People might look at this season and think, ‘What happened to him?.

“I think he deserves a big move because I think he’s got the ability to show other people in the world what he’s all about because here in Scotland we are deemed as if it’s the farmers league when he could play in the Premiership”.

Guest, Andy Halliday replied, “I think he’ll go somewhere to go somewhere, like Dembelé. I wouldn’t be surprised if Leicester came in for him in the summer and with Jamie Vardy being 33/34, it’s maybe just a case of him being the next Jamie Vardy”.

This seems to a rumour that simply will not disapper and with Edouard’s contract running into it’s last year, Rodgers will be well aware that he could get Edouard on a bargain basement deal.

With Celtic seemingly owing PSG 40% of any monies received for Edouard, that is not good news for the Parkhead power brokers or for any new manager coming in hoping to get a large chunk of that cash to improve the squad.
