Celtic skipper, Scott Brown, has revealed who he feels has been one of the key components of his 9-in-a-row side and an integer; part of their success.

Speaking as part of the trophy presentation for the Scottish Premiership title that was recently awarded, Brown, as reported by The Daily Record, has praised teammate, James Forrest for his contribution and backed him to become a record breaker.

When asked about the winger’s contribution, he said:

“For me, Jamesy is the underdog here. He can go a long, long way further yet.

“He’s only 28 at the moment, just about to turn 29, and has plenty of years to go winning trophies. He has been incredible and a breath of fresh air every time he steps on that park.

“The things he can do with a ball are something else with his pace and power.

“He can just drive you up the pitch at any given time and turn things around for the team when you might be under some pressure.

“He has that speed and strength to go past people and I always remember a goal he scored against Rangers when he drove past three people to go
into the box and then score.

“It was pace, quality and finishing ability all rolled together.

“I wouldn’t be able to tell you the exact numbers on it all but he must surely be close to having the most goals and assists through the Nine in a Row out of anyone who has played in it.”

Forrest currently sits just two medals behind Brown on 19 and at nearly 29-years old and six years younger than his captain, few would back against him eventually surpassing his tally and potentially those of legends Billy McNeill and Bobby Lennox.

True or false, Hearts scored first in last season's Scottish Cup final?

The winger hasn’t always been a first pick but under Brendan Rodgers’ tutelage he has become a much more composed and productive player, consistently getting double figures for both goals and assists, highlighted perfectly with his clean sweep of player of the year awards last season.

The Scotland cap is a modern day anomaly, a one club player who is a product of the club’s academy, the perfect example to youngsters at Celtic, demonstrating that if you work hard enough, any player has the potential to become a legend regardless of the hurdles you may have to face on the way.
