Celtic Word On The Tweet

‘Buzzing’, ‘He’s scoring’ – Some Celtic fans convinced Lennon is about to spring selection surprise

|

Celtic fans reckon manager Neil Lennon is about to hand Marvin Compper just his second start for the club tonight against St Mirren.

The usual team rumours and predicted line-ups have been doing the rounds throughout the week into today and most of them include the German centre-back, despite not playing at all so far this season.

Compper was pushed to the fringes of the squad by previous manager Brendan Rodgers but under Lennon he’s started to be included in Reserve matches again, even drawing praise from the Celtic boss last month.

Asked on 8th March if he could feature before the end of the season, Lennon said: “He could, yeah. He played a development game on Tuesday and I went to see it. He’s training with the first-team squad and he’s keeping himself ticking over with match fitness with the development team. If called upon he’ll be ready, fitness-wise anyway.”

With Dedryck Boyata injured and Filip Benkovic also out of action, it now seems the Hoops boss could turn to a player who has played just one match, against Alloa, since joining last January.

All eyes will be on that official team news tonight.
