Celtic have now secured the first cup of a possible treble and it seems, that this team simply cannot be stopped.

Looking at our bench, never mind our starting line up, the strength coming off the bench on Sunday was one of the major factors that helped us retain the cup and continue our stranglehold on Scottish football.

As Ange prepares to lead the team onto the league title, it’s the league cup that holds a special place in the Celtic bosses heart as that was the one trophy that really instilled belief into the team that they could go on and become champions of Scotland.

But Ange just doesn’t want the league title. He wants more and it was beautifully summed up by podcaster Liam Carrigan.

Speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, Liam said, “You know, historically the League Cup has so often been the springboard to really, really memorable seasons for me as a Celtic supporter.

“I think back to the Wim Jansen season. Winning that the League Cup in November of that year, gave us the belief that when I’m going on a beat Rangers that New Year and then we’ve gone on and won the league.

“And I think the League Cup plays a huge part in that. The Kilmarnock Cup Final 2001 was my first ever Cup final as a Celtic fan and it was, again, a springboard that took us on to the treble.

“The Invincible season again, same thing.

“I really think that this could be the springboard to a treble and possibly a decent tilt to Europe next season as well.

“Because that is the one thing that Ange Postecoglou wants to tick off his box. He wants to get the Scottish Cup because he’s not got that yet and he wants to get a good run in Europe.

“And I think today is where it all begins.”

Ange has made no secret of the fact that he wants to make Celtic a European force. He knows that domestically, he will continue to conquer but he also knows he will earn his stripes if he makes his mark on Europe and I cannot wait to see what this side can achieve on the continent.
