VAR has certainly caused a stir in Scottish football.

With the new technology receiving fierce criticism from managers, players, fans and pundits those teething problems that we were warned about not so long ago are certainly bearing down and it does look like we have a long way to go before the technology’s positives start outweighing the negatives.

In the two weeks since it has been implemented, Celtic have been at the end of two major flashpoints domestically and have suffered the apparent injustices of the VAR on the European stage.

Sticking with the domestic scene for a moment, at the pre-match press conference today, stand-in captain Cameron Carter-Vickers was asked about the refereeing technology and if the players have discussed it in the dressing room.

His reaction tells you all you need to know. Have a watch:

You could tell that he was trying to choose his words very carefully when answering the question and it was pretty clear that the big American and the team are, behind the scenes, not VAR’s biggest fan.

Hopefully, VAR won’t be at the forefront of Celtic’s game against Motherwell at Fir Park tomorrow night and Ange and the bhoys can leave South Lanarkshire with all three points with no drama or controversy.

But looking at what we have witnessed so far, I wouldn’t bet on that.

Celtic hold the record for most Scottish Cup Final wins. Who scored the winners in these TEN finals?
