Excuses. That’s all we have heard from our friends over at Ibrox when it comes to Celtic winning domestic trophies and their club’s inability to stop Ange Postecoglou right?

Think about it.

Last season, it was ‘We brought the winter break forward early to solve our injury crisis’ even though we were still in the midst of a pandemic and ten other clubs voted for it.

When they lost their lead at the top of the league after we skelped them 3-0 at Celtic Park? ‘We’re only focusing on Europe. League doesn’t matter.’

Now that we are seven points ahead and looking like we are going to romp this league? ‘We’ve got ten first-team players out injured.”

There’s only so many excuses you can make before the penny finally drops. Your team, and manager, are just not good enough.

And former Rangers striker Kenny Miller called out the excuses of this season and claimed out of the nine Ibrox players injured, only two would make a material difference to the Rangers’ starting eleven.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Miller said, “Well my question would be, you’re not looking for excuses but of the nine injured who’s missing that’s going to start and really make the difference in this team?

“I can think of two, in Goldson and Lawrence, and we’ve only seen a small sample in Lawrence.”

When pressed and asked if Hagi would have made a difference or, at least, having the option to pick him, Miller said,  “Absolutely.

“Because the squad depth gets diminished and when you look at the bench, I think there was five young players on the bench for the Champions League game I think it was, so the squad depth suffers with that.

“But in relation to really starting players who would come in,  I can only think of Goldson and Lawrence.”

There it is.

Straight from the horse’s mouth.

There can be no excuses when it comes to them, just as Ange Postecoglou didn’t accept it last season when we were down to the bare bones in October and November.

It’s all about the standards the club and manager set.

Ange didn’t accept a drop in standards regardless of who started in the first team, Giovanni and the Rangers support do.

And as long as they keep doing so, we will run away with this league and, possibly, another treble this season.

Brilliant isn’t it?

If you know your history. How many questions can you get right on this Celtic quiz?
