Celtic were denied a twenty-third successive league victory as rivals Rangers discovered a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park.

Stuart Armstrong had earned the hosts the lead ten minutes before the interval but Clint Hill forced an 87th minute reply.

The opening half was a tight affair in which home keeper Craig Gordon blocked with his feet from the advancing Martyn Waghorn.

Meanwhile, Wes Foderingham turned Armstrong’s free-kick onto an upright at the other end and Kieran Tierney was also close with a drive.

But Celtic still went in front when Armstrong swapped passes with James Forrest and fired in from the edge of the area.

Armstrong was though frustrated again by Foderingham after the break and leading marksman Moussa Dembele also struck wide during the later stages.

However, the Hoops’ advantage was suddenly cancelled out when Hill snatched an equaliser after Emerson Hyndman was initially thwarted by Gordon.

There was still enough time remaining for them to be denied a penalty as substitute Leigh Griffiths then appeared to be pulled down in the area by goalscorer Hill.
