Celtic eye young Hibs star

|

Celtic are amongst a whole host of clubs currently eyeing Hibs left back Josh Doig.  The young 18 year old has been in great form for Jack Ross’ Hibernian as he has helped guide them to fourth  place in the Scottish Premiership, just two points behind Aberdeen and four behind Celtic.

Doig has made nineteen appearances for the Hibees this season and recently won the Man of the Match in the Hibs  2-0 win against Kilmarnock on the 16th January. It is believed that although Celtic are not in the market for a left back in this window, according to Sky Sports, there is musings that the Hoops could make a move for the youngster in the summer.  But with English Premiership clubs Arsenal and Chelsea monitoring the situation, it is believed a fee of £1m could be enough to secure the u-18 Scotland internationals signature.

Doig joined Hibs in the summer of 2019 as a product of fierce Edinburgh rivals Heart of Midlothian’s youth system.  He extended his contract in 2020 by a further three years but was then loaned out to London club Queens Park Rangers.  Doig made seven appearances for Rangers and returned to Leith where he has been a mainstay in Ross’s side throughout this campaign.

He only has one Scotland u-18 cap to his name in a solitary appearance in a 2-1 win against Paraguay.
