Tommy Burns is a man that lives long in the hearts of the Celtic supporters.

From player to manager, Tommy was central to all things Celtic and never took any of his time at Paradise for granted.

Much loved by the Celtic fans, that emotion was always reciprocated through many acts of kindness.

Whether it be visiting sick fans in hospital or paying his respects to fans at their passing, Tommy always had time for the supporters, even when he was the head of the club.

A Celtic fan shared a brilliant memory he had of the former Celtic gaffer when, back in 1996, when he was manager of the club, he wrote a letter to Tommy to complain about the lack of options in the Hoops midfield, with all that he had on his plate at the time, Tommy incredibly took the time to reply:

This shows the measure of the man and how much he valued the Celtic supporters opinions at a time when he was trying to halt Rangers charge for ten in a row.

Another fan replied recalling a reply he received from Tommy when he complained about the clubs signing strategy, “He sent me one of those too. I wrote to Celtic complaining we weren’t singing enough players (we had only signed Van Hooijidonk) and he sent me a letter back saying he was doing everything he could to make us successful.”

In a day and age where players and managers are far removed from the fan in the street, this shows the class of Tommy and why he was held in such a high regard by all Celtic supporters.
