Tam McManus: Celtic fans would cause ‘Armageddon on social media’ if denied Kilmarnock penalty claim was ours

The Giorgos Giakoumakis ‘penalty’ claim has certainly set social media alight over the weekend.

As reporters and pundits quickly made the mad dash to tell us all we can stop being paranoid about the refereeing decisions that go against our club, or more specifically, the VAR ones, Tam McManus took to Twitter to have a bizarre rant about how Kilmarnock were not awarded a last-minute penalty against us.

I explained in the piece linked above why I thought it wasn’t a penalty. The Kilmarnock forward backed into an oncoming Giakoumakis and, to me, it looked like a simple coming together.

McManus clearly didn’t think so and he continued his rant with a bizarre attack on the Celtic fans.

Taking to Twitter, commneting on a video of the Kilmarnock penalty claim, McManus continued, “PS if this was at the other end be like Armageddon on social media!!!

“Kilmarnock like St Mirren last night have been done by a horrendous decision.

“Just because it’s two smaller clubs doesn’t make it any less newsworthy. Shocking.”

Very, very strange.

We have been at the wrong end of shocking refereeing decisions all season and I have seen no hint of the ‘Armageddon’ that McManus is alluding to here.

I have seen Celtic fans highlight the dubious nature of these decisions so McManus needs to calm down here a wee bit.

It does seem like a strange stance to take.

It makes you wonder why a former Hibs man took aim at our support like that?

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
