Celtic are still in talks with Bohemians’ Ireland Under-21 striker Paddy Madden.

The 20-year-old had a trial with the Parkhead club last year and appeared in a practice match against them at the weekend in a game in which Celtic came out 4-1 victors.

“We’re still talking to Celtic but nothing has been agreed,” Bohemians boss Pat Fenlon told the Evening Herald. “Any deal has to suit the club and suit the player. If it doesn’t suit Paddy or Bohemians it won’t happen. I don’t want to lose Paddy – I want to keep all of our players.”

Madden has already netted ten goals in 32 appearances for Bohemians in the Airtricity Premier League this season and was named Player of the Month for June.

He has one Irish Under-21 cap after playing against Armenia last year, and also scored for the national Under-23 team against an England ‘C` side in May.

Celtic are likely to face competition for his services, however, as Derby County are similarly understood to be keen.
