Football Scotland have reported that Celtic have missed out on Romaine Sawyers with him off to West Brom this summer from Brentford instead.

The midfielder has been linked with the Bhoys this summer but it looks as though he’ll be staying in England and he’ll be heading back to an area of the country that he’ll know well.

He was at Walsall earlier in his career and he’s heading back to the West Midlands, this time joining West Brom under Slaven Bilic.

For me, that is a shame as I would have liked to have seen his energy in midfield come in alongside the likes of Callum McGregor and Scott Brown.

We perhaps saw this coming, though, so it is easy enough to accept.

What Neil Lennon needs to do now, then, is focus on players that we can bring in before the deadline at the end of next month.

  • Always going to happen a big club like west Brom playing in a far superior league will always beat us to decent players
Don’t forget that’s 2 players that have chosen them over us
