Although Celtic are slowly and surely getting their season back on track after a difficult opening couple of months, many supporters are still targeting squad improvement when the January transfer window opens.

Brendan Rodgers is on the record regarding his unhappiness with how things went during the summer window and with the resources available to Celtic, January could be a fairly exciting time.

The club of course will be on the hunt for the best deals possible and one player who could arrive relatively cheaply is Wigan Athletic midfielder Nick Powell.

He’s out of contract at the end of the season and as reported by the likes of TEAMtalk last week has rejected recent attempts by the Championship outfit to tie him down to a new deal.

After firing his side to promotion from League One last term with 15 goals from attacking midfield, he’s followed that form up with four goals and four assists in 12 second-tier appearances this season.

With Celtic badly needing fresh ideas in the middle of the park after the departure of Stuart Armstrong, he could be the perfect replacement at 24 years of age, especially taking into account his market availability.

Do you think Celtic should make a move for Nick Powell? Have your say in our poll below…
