The international break is a part of the season that many Celtic supporters absolutely detest.
Last season we saw players like Kyogo Furhashi suffer an injury at a time when the team was already down to the bare bones and ever since then, we have always looked at the break with trepidation.
This time, we have been fortunate in that Kyogo, Hatate and Cameron Carter-Vickers have all been left behind by their national teams.
Unfortunate for them, but looking at this from an entirely Celtic point of view, great news for us.
They now get the opportunity to put their feet up and rest and recover for what will be a crucial few months for the club.
But it seems that bad news always inevitably follows the good with news from Japan stating that Daezen Maeda was ‘absent’ from training and will therefore miss this mornings fixture against Uruguay.
Hochi News reports that the Celtic forward did not join the team and he has already been replaced in the starting line up for the 1030am (UK time) kick off against the South Americans.
No other update was issued by the Japanese media and, hopefully, Hajime Moriyasu will give an update in his pre match interview this morning.
