Celtic’s momentum in the transfer window is starting to build as Ange Postecoglou looks to step up his recruitment ahead of January.

With two players already signed, sealed and delivered, there has been mounting speculation that the gaffer is set to add another midfielder to the squad.

Most of the speculation has been surrounding attacking midfielders but was there a huge hint dropped by new recruit Alistair Johnston on Instagram when he replied to former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama’s comment on his Instagram post yesterday:

The reply can be viewed here:

Wanyama was a very popular player amongst the fans in his heyday at Celtic Park.

Scoring in the infamous 2-1 win over Barcelona in 2012, the former Kenyan international earned himself a £12.5m move to Southampton [BBC] and then laterally onto Spurs in 2016 for a further £11m [BBC].

Wanyama currently plays for Johnston’s former club but his contract expires at the end of December.

So is this a hint that the 64-cap former international is set to rejoin him at Celtic Park?

At just 31 years old, Wanyama is still young enough to offer the club a few years service.

We could have been doing with a player of Victor’s quality to have stepped in for McGregor when he was injured, and as he will be available on a free this month, surely this would be a no-brainer move as a backup for the Celtic captain?
