With Celtic looking to strengthen their front line as they expect Odsonne Edouard to leave in this transfer window, I ask today, ‘Have Celtic made a mistake letting Patryk Klimala go before Postecoglou’s appointment?’

Postecoglou has a style of football he wants to play at Celtic. High pressing and attacking football designed to tire the opposition team into submission.

We all remember the first training session that Celtic tweeted out. The “Ange mic’d up” video has had over half a million views on Twitter and in that you can hear Postecoglou talking about the style of football he wants to adopt.

“Always involved. Always going. Ready to go at anytime. If the movement is good and the passing is good we never stop.

“We never stop. Stop at half time. Stop at the end of the game when we celebrate. We never stop”.  Postecoglou’s passion about attacking football and the high press requires a certain type of player.

One that never stops running. Always looking for the ball and puts the opposition defenders under pressure.

Patryk Klimala was PERFECT for Postecoglou’s style.

Now I understand that Klimala was let go in April.  But if what we were told is true and Celtic had been tracking Ange for a number of months, surely any player movement should have been halted until the new manager was appointed?

We might look back and regret letting Klimala go especially as we could be in the position of having just Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths as our only recognised strikers.

Hopefully Ange has another signing up his sleeve to offset Edouard’s departure. It’s a tough ask, but looking at the new boss and how he conducts his business, I am confident he will find the right man to replace Edouard when the time comes.
