Celtic’s bizarre link with former Galactico

Now I know I’ve written about this before and at the time, even then, I thought the chances of Celtic pulling off this move was slim, to none.

Gareth Bale has, once again, been linked with a move to the Hoops as The Sun lists 10 clubs that thought to be interested in taking the former Real Madrid and Tottenham star.

In fact, forget slim, there is zero chance of us managing to pull this one out of the bag.

For two reasons.

One, I’m not stupid. Bale will still command a top heavy salary. Even if he was to take a 75% pay cut on his £660k a week salary, that would still equate to a £150k per week wage demand.

Hell, Celtic couldn’t even afford to pay for him if he took a 90% pay cut.

Two, now that Bale will be going to the World Cup, he can use that platform now to secure a club in a bigger league, certainly even one of the top four in England.

Can we see Bale saying goodbye to La Liga and saying hello to Dingwall?

Absolutely not.

So it’s time for these rumours to stop. Clearly Celtic’s name is in there is to attract more clicks but our support are not daft.

We know there is no chance of Bale ending up in the East End of Glasgow.

When asked if he had any options to take up after leaving Madrid, Bale said simply, “I’ve got loads“.
