As news filtered through last night that long term reported Celtic target Christopher Scott had signed a contract extension with German giants, Bayern Munich, it looked as though a deal was dead for the player.

As several Celtic outlets reported that the player still has his heart set on a move from the club, a Sky Sports journalist from Germany pretty much killed any hopes that Celtic fans had of a move to Paradise still happening.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Scott does want to leave but has made clear his intentions of staying in Germany.

The journalist tweeted, “News Christopher Scott: Bayern has pulled the unilateral option until 2023.

“But Scott wants to leave and has already made a change request. Düsseldorf (Allofs) absolutely wants him. Discussions have already taken place.

“Scott can imagine moving to Fortuna.”

But when pressed if a move to Celtic was an option, the journalist replied, “Was never mentioned. We have reported on talks that have actually taken place.

“But Scott doesn’t want to go abroad. He intends to stay in Germany.”

Celtic are still looking for a replacement for Tom Rogic and many fans thought that Scott would be a perfect fit for that role.

Now that it is confirmed that his next move will take place in Germany, it is back to the drawing board, it seems, for Ange Postecoglou.

Its a good sign that Celtic look to be building for the future given the number of transfer targets aged around 20 we’ve been linked with, an age group that realistically could be pushing for first team spots, and all players who’ve proved they’re ready for it.
