When reports emerged linking James Forrest with a move away from Celtic (as per the Scottish Sun), we had a little chuckle, as there’s no way that the Hoops would let the attacker leave. Only then did we see that they’re apparently interested for the paltry sum of just £8 million.
Letting Forrest leave for as little as £8 million wouldn’t make any sense, and so we aren’t too worried about this deal happening, and seemingly neither is former Celtic man Chris Sutton.
Sutton recently discussed the move on Twitter, and it’s fair to say that he’s said what we’re all thinking.

Clearly, he’s not too worried about the prospect of a departure, and neither are we. Liverpool are going to have to cough up a whole lot more money if they’re to have any chance of taking Forrest off our hands. It’s always hard to tell what’s just paper talk and what has any sort of merit behind it, but whilst it’s easy to see Liverpool being interested, we aren’t expecting anything to happen around the £8 million mark.
Does he deserve a big money move? Certainly, he’s been brilliant over the years, but he’s right at home at Celtic, and long may it continue.
