Celtic have been linked with former England international, Andros Townsend. The winger has admitted he would be open to a move even if it means moving to another country.

Speaking to Talksport, Townsend said he would be open to a move and wouldn’t rule anything out, “I’m open to everything.

“If there’s an option that presents itself and it’s the best one for me and fulfils my needs, I wouldn’t turn it down just because it’s in another country.”

The 29 year old’s contract with Crystal Palace ends at the end of June and from 1st July he would be allowed to leave on a free. The wide man cost The Eagles a cool £16m from Newcastle United back in 2016.

Townsend spent an incredible 16 years at Tottenham Hotspur where he made his name in the Spurs youth team before making his first team breakthrough in 2009.

He made 50 appearances for the London club and also in his time at White Heart Lane, was farmed out a mind boggling NINE times before eventually landing a move to Newcastle.

He only made 16 appearances for The Toon before he secured a 5 year contract at Palace after his £16m move.

Townsend has been capped thirteen times for his country. He made his debut at 22 years old against Macedonia where he was named man of the match.

Townsend also had his brushes with the football authorities when he was banned for four months in 2013 for getting involved in illegal betting, with three of those months suspended.

Townsend certainly doesn’t seem to fit theould of Postecoglou’s teams as the Australian seems to favour youth over experience but could landing such an experienced player on a free be enough to tempt the Celtic boss to bring him onboard?
