As Celtic kick off their Sydney Super Cup tour this week, a lot of the headlines have been stolen by a claim that Ange Postecoglou is being targetted for the Japan national job.
Which is strange as Hajime Moriyasu is still in charge and is in the process of preparing his side for the World Cup, but yet, here we are.
Japanese media outlet Nikkan Sports reported claimed that a representative from the Japanese association approached Ange but no formal offer was made.
I think that’s called sounding out. Is that the term I’m looking for or am I just tap dancing around it?
Anyway, Postecoglou was quick to rebuff the rumours and sent a message to the Celtic fans.
As reported by Football Scotland, Postecoglou said, “I’m under no illusions. I know how fickle the football world can be. Last year people were saying I would go for very different reasons.
“Things can change very quickly. I’ve never worried about what will happen in the future, what is out there or what my next step is.
“What I do is focus on something I am passionate about and I couldn’t be happier.”
Celtic still have a lot to offer Ange Postecoglou.
The Australian has repeatedly spoken about how he sees his vision for the club and I cannot see him upping sticks and leaving half way through it.
We will have Ange for a good few years yet.
