It’s incredible how one transfer rumour can quickly descend into analysing how much the rest of the Celtic squad are worth.

With Josip Juranovic being heavily touted for a move away from Celtic after the World Cup, pretty much all the talk was if we are going to let him go, how much money should we command for him?

£10m? £15m? £20m?

I suppose it will all depend on how he gets on in Qatar over the next four weeks I suppose.

But this latest rumour does seem to suggest that the Croat is looking to leave and Celtic are ready to sell.

Do we think he will go for a record fee? Who knows. But there is a player that has been touted to break Kieran Tierney’s record transfer by journalist, Sean Martin, of The Celtic Way.

Speaking on The Celtic Way podcast, Martin said, “We’ve said already this summer that both of us believe that Matt O’Riley when he does go, if he continues this trajectory, he will break Kieran Tierney’s Scottish transfer record.

“He ticks every box. Literally every box.

“The only thing is that he’s not quite there yet because he doesn’t score enough.

“That is actually the only thing I would see as missing in his game just now.

“But he’s 21 and that will come. I think that there’s enough about his game that you know that that will come. He will add some more goals.

“If it’s an English Premier League add on a tax of a few million.

“I just don’t see a world, barring serious injury, where he does not blow that Kieran Tierney Scottish transfer record out the water.”

I think O’Riley could easily got for £30m+. And that is not me exaggerating.

Look at how far he has progressed under Ange and he has not even been at the club for a full year yet.

From League One in England to Europe’s top tier in the Champions League, O’Riley has not looked out of place and his meteoric rise has also earned him international recognition at u21 level for Denmark.

This guy is going all the way to the very top.

Who were Celtic’s most expensive transfer additions in these seasons?
