Cutting Out The Dead Wood

With the move of Urhoghide to Belgium outfit Oostende, this begs the question, which other fringe players could be offloaded before the close of the transfer window to free up space for yet more new signings this season?

A player who could be prime for an exit out of Parkhead is Switzerland front man Albian Ajeti.

His good start at Parkhead never really materialised into a successful stint at Celtic and injuries hindered his progress.

With Celtic now possessing the two best strikers in the league, plus exciting youth talent upfront such as Kenny, Ajeti’s inability to adapt to Ange’s high press, we never stop style means his days must surely be numbered at Celtic.

Another consideration for the exit door could be Celtic Academy graduate Mikey Johnstone.

Although this may not sit well with some members of the Celtic support, and it is undeniable that Johnston does poses talent and has produced some great moments for the club, his progress has greatly been hindered by injury and he has struggled to find the consistency needed to be a top performer for Celtic that we all hoped he could be.

With the permanent signing of Portuguese star Jota and the continued development of players like Abada, it may be best for both players and club to part ways and Johnson to seek success elsewhere.

Cutting our losses with such players could be vital to adding more quality to an already large and talented squad as we prepare to compete on four fronts this coming season.
