As far as international duty goes, Celtic fans will be glad when the next two weeks are over.

Because not only do we hate seeing our players leave our club to go and represent our countries (for fear of getting injured) we also cannot stand the hullabaloo surrounding which players deserved call-ups over others.

It’s a circus that we really do not need.

Especially at this time of year.

The run in to the title is going to be paramount and then as a side order, the Scottish Cup is there for the taking to make up what could be a sensational treble for Celtic.

With players going to represent Japan, Scotland and Canada Celtic really need this break like a hole in the head.

But at least we don’t need to send one player that the Daily Mail describes as being a ‘superstar’ Down Under.

Aaron Mooy. The Aussie midfielder has been ruled out with a back injury and The Soceroos coach Graham Arnold said he will be staying at home to recover, ‘It’s unfortunate for Aaron that he misses these games, something I know he was very much looking forward to playing, but his absence provides an opportunity to a further emerging player as we start this new campaign.

‘After speaking with Aaron, who missed this weekend’s game, he would only be able to play limited minutes if he came to Australia, so the decision was made for him to stay in Scotland and continue his recovery.’

That’s fine by me!

Here’s looking forward to the next game against Ross County where, hopefully, Mooy will be injury free to help us take one more step towards the title.

Who were Celtic’s most expensive transfers these seasons?
