The Celtic fans have long held the suspicion that the media in Scotland hold some sort of vendetta against the club.

That whenever the media write about us, it is done with a negative slant in an effort just to gain ‘clicks’.

Now I am not saying whether this is true or not. My job is to present you with the facts and evidence and you get to make up your own mind.

The latest report from the Daily Record came splashed with this headline, “Celtic dealt veiled Giorgios Giakoumakis dig as Atlanta United chief vents on visa woes after transfer delay.

This was taken article from The Atlanta Journal, where the Atlanta United CEO Garth Lagerwe was speaking about Giorgos Giakoumakis’ transfer from Celtic.

Automatically, my Celtic head went on and I was ready to see who was talking down our club and for what reason.

Brace yourselves.

Lagerwe was asked about whether or not he would have loved to have the Greek striker in earlier than he did and this is what he had to say,  “Would we have loved to have done it earlier?

“Sure. But given the amount that had to come out before we could bring anything in, I think we wound up in a pretty reasonable spot.

“And we’re very excited now about the season.”

Wait, what?

Where was the dig?

So Atlanta United had to get players out before bringing players in?

Have I read that correctly?

And here is the kicker. The MLS side’s initial offer was rebuffed by the club. It wasn’t enough. Celtic said no.

It wasn’t Celtic that caused the delay, it was Atlanta United.

For the Record to spin this into some anti-Celtic nonsense the way they have done is incredible.

Even by their standards.
