“Dearly Love To Have” – Lennon Remains Confident On 2020/21 Deals For Celtic Duo

|

With Celtic rightly celebrating nine in a row for the 2019/20 campaign, all eyes are on football’s return and the potential for the club to rack up an incredible 10th successive top flight title whenever 2020/21 gets underway. With plenty of questions remaining about the next campaign, manager Neil Lennon already has plans afoot and he’s certainly not ruling out deals that would see Southampton pair Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi return for another year.

With both players more than playing their part in our success last term, whilst you would definitely think that after the suspension of football that permanent deals would be out of the question given the added financial complications of the last few months and the drop of additional revenue, Lennon clearly hopes that something could be done on a loan front once again.

Speaking to the BBC over the weekend, our gaffer explained that whilst Celtic certainly weren’t ‘immune’ from the financial impact that Coronavirus has had on the game, he was still confident the club would hand him a generous war chest for next season and if he could, he would definitely make an attempt to bring both back to Scotland for another year.

“They’re two players we’d dearly love to have for next season. I don’t think it’s unrealistic. They added a lot last year and made a really positive contribution. But we’ll just have to wait and see. They’re not our players, we’ll see how negotiations go.”
