The Celtic backroom appointments get just as much coverage as the first team signings.

Mainly because there has been murmurings that Hoops boss, Ange Postecoglou has no control over who he has as his backroom team but also because of the strange appointment of Gordon Starchan.

Strachan was brought to the club not long after former CEO Dom McKay categorically denied he wouldn’t coming to the club on the day Ange Postecoglou was unveiled.

Fast forward a few weeks and the former Celtic boss is brought in on a three month consultancy basis. Not long after that, McKay is gone and Strachan remains.

Very strange goings on Parkhead indeed and the pundits at Go Radio were discussing Strachan’s role when Craig Moore, who has worked very closely with Ange Postecoglou,  and Mark Guidi, uttered their concerns at the role the former Hoops gaffer is playing at the club, “That’s just a confusing one for me.  I really can’t wrap my head around how that is in place. How that’s happened.

“Who’s decided that. I can’t imagine that everyone was on board with that decision.

“This is nothing against Gordon Strachan. Get the right person. Just get the right person. Somebody that can do their job, do it well and make sure that they can take a club forward.”

Guidi: “If Gordon Strachan is the best available for that role short term, then, then absolutely fine.

“For me, the remit, you know, Gordon Strachan going get into look at the women’s game and looking at Celtic park.”

Cooney: “Do you believe all that?”

Moore: “Nah. I don’t.”

Guidi: “Well, I’d like to think that if he’s in there, he’s looking at more than that. Because, again, he knows his stuff.  He was a brilliant Celtic manager.

“The thing I don’t quite get is because of his role with Dundee. I’m not quite on board with that.  I think if you’re going to do something, then be all in with one.

” And I think if he was all in with Celtic, Gordon Strachan has got plenty to offer because he does know his stuff.

“So I don’t have a problem with Gordon Strachan being there, but only there with the right remit.”

We are half way through Strachan’s three month consultancy term so it will be interesting when the club let us know of his findings, resolutions and, perhaps, what is the point of Strachan being there in the first place?
