As the Celtic rumour mill went into overdrive yesterday with Scott Brown announcing his departure from Aberdeen, many fans are convinced that bringing in the legendary former captain could be a masterstroke as the club close in on the title.

With Ange Postecoglou presiding over a Parkhead miracle this season, the fans are over the moon that with just eight games to go, the title is in their hands when many never gave the club a hope in hell of even competing this season, never mind winning.

But the brakes should be applied to any talk of Scott Brown returning to Celtic in a coaching capacity to help with the push for the title.

Although it would be funny to see the meltdown across the city, Hugh Keevins has urged caution.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, the veteran journalist was asked if the club should welcome Brown back when he said, “I’m not sure.

“People made an assumption when Scott Brown left Celtic for Aberdeen that this would be the start of that kind of learning curve that would one day bring him back to Celtic.

“I’m not sure that that day is now.

“I think that Ange Postecoglou strikes me as the kind of man who would not want to tamper with anything eight games from the finishing line.

“And Scott Brown’s time may come to go back to Celtic, but I’m not sure that time is right now.

“There’s an emotional argument. And I understand that.

“The majority of Celtic fans may put forward that emotional argument. But there’s also a logical argument. Don’t disturb things now.

“Don’t tamper with what has been achieved so far.

“The job that Ange Postecoglou has done over thirty league matches is phenomenal. He has taken over something that was in a terrible state.

“And he has a football team though who are eight games away from winning the title that hardly anybody at the start of the season could have envisaged that this would be the case.

“Therefore, I don’t see Ange Postecoglou tampering with anything.

“An emotional argument is all very well.

“But Scott Browns time will come for a return to Celtic Park. I’m reasonably convinced of that. But that time is not now.”

Is Keevins correct? Would the return of Broony cause potential upset at Celtic Park? How would Callum McGregor feel about his old captain returning?

God I think I might vomit here but I actually agree with Flanders for once. Broony should go work under Mr Fake Tim down at Leicester for a while, maybe Ange can look at bringing him on board once a suitable position becomes available *cough* Gavin Strachan *cough* John Kennedy *cough*…
