Celtic are poised to make their fourth January signing and as the deal is about to be signed, Irish media outlet Independent.ie has shared the details of the deal which seems to have benefited Celtic more than the selling club.
Johnny Kenny is set for a €150,000 (£125,415) switch from the League of Ireland to the Glasgow giants in a move that will see the countries third top scorer make his way to Paradise in what can only be seen as a development signing.
Rovers also have appearance clauses brokered into the deal whereby if the youngster makes a set number of appearances for The Bhoys, Sligo will receive a further six figure sum.
The League of Ireland side also have a sell on clause believed to be around the 10-15% mark.
But as Celtic fans reacted to the move, some remain unconvinced that the highly rated 19 year old has what it takes to make it at Paradise:

A long stint in the B team then a move to a lower league English team I would imagine.

Probably wouldn’t get a game at any other prem team tbh

And it was this reply that triggered the following response from the journalist that wrote the article:
Don’t underestimate him

yeah, I understand that – and there's Irish scepticism about him going there for the same reason given what happened with several others – I think JK would get a game with some of the other SPFL clubs though…!

And looking at the responses from the supporters of Sligo, it does seem as though the Hoops do have a player on their hands:
150k is peanuts for this countries top talent

He’s worth 2 million this lad, pathetic valuation, this has to change 🤦♂️⚽️

Disagree with this deal being described as lucrative. One of the best potential players in the league going for peanuts.
Not a Sligo issue. A league wide challenge that clubs should be working together to fix. British clubs pay peanuts for very good talent. https://t.co/2EfmosUS9T
