There’s no smoke without fire right?

Well, that’s what I tell myself whenever a transfer story continues for weeks on end.

Take the Jota story for example. According to a report from Portugal in Record [via Daily Record], it seems as though the sale of the Portuguese winger to Celtic could be in the pipeline quicker than we think.

According to the report, Benfica are very keen to get the sale of the fans favourite done quickly to raise funds for their own transfer spree in the summer.

With the move set to make Benfica a cool initial £6m, The Eagles are clearly keen to get this deal over and done with.

And in the same report, it is claimed that any move for another reported Celtic target, Vinicius Souza, is now in the Parkhead clubs favour.

It seems that the other interested party, Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, are set to pull out of the deal as they feel the finances involved in obtaining the player would a it very difficult for the move to happen.

That leaves just Celtic and Bologna left in the hunt for the Brazilian midfielder.

With prices of £7m being quoted, it’s not whether that’s a price Celtic can afford to pay, it’s can they NOT afford to pay it with the Champions League group stages upon us next season.

I’m all for Jota signing but your logic is flawed. Benfica have just received £65 from Liverpool for Darwin Nunez so I doubt they are desperate for 6 million.

Only going by what the report claims mate. Either way, I hope I’m STILL wrong if it means we get him! HH
