Vital Celtic reported on the potential end of this youngsters Celtic career way back in October 2021.

Young Kerr McInroy was once highly rated at Celtic but never really got the opportunity to progress his career at the club.

Speaking back in October, McInroy said, “It’s a difficult one for myself,

“I want to play as many games as I can and show people what I can do. I want to grab a few goals.

“It’s a confusing situation for me. My head has been all over the place trying to work things out. So for now, it’s just a case of getting games.

“I have an option of another year at Celtic but this will probably be my last year at Celtic. So I need to get as many games as I can, wherever that may be.”

Since that interview, McInroy has spent time at Airdrie, Dunfermline and Ayr on loan and has now found himself at Kilmarnock where Derek McInnes offered the defensive midfielder a two year deal.

McInroy was an experiences youth international after being capped eight times at u17 level, sixteen ay u19 and once at u21 for Scotland.

It will be interesting to see how McInroy gets on next season and to see if Celtic made a mistake in letting him go but looking at his record the youngster never made a single first team appearance and only appeared on the Celtic bench four times in his career.

We wish him all the best and hope he performs well next season.

Its a good move for him, and who knows, we might end up signing him from Kilmarnock in the future if he proves himself there.

I’d rather see these young players play than sit on the periphery wasting away.

We, like most big clubs, hoard talented youngsters, often to the detriment of their careers; I’d much rather we(every big club) trim our overall squad size down to the essentials, a solid core of quality, and let the rest go to build their careers at clubs where they’ll actually get a game, and possibly insert buy back clauses into their contracted moves and/or give them free transfers with a percentage clause of any future transfer fee.
