Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard believes that Neil Lennon’s Hibernian are genuine title challengers and has warned of their threat ahead of tomorrow’s Scottish Premiership clash.

Many see Scottish football through the prism of Celtic’s rivalry with Rangers, but Edouard clearly sees things differently and knows the pressure will be on when Lennon’s side visit Celtic Park on Saturday.

As quoted in this week’s Celtic View, the Frenchman said:

Hibs are a very good team. I have realised this from playing them since I’ve been at Celtic. They are good enough to be competing for the title.

If we want to win the league this season, then this is the kind of opponent we have to beat. It’s a good challenge for us to see if we can keep our momentum in the league.

It’s a good time to play against Hibs given our last game against St Johnstone. At the same time, it’s a different game. Every game is different and this is a completely different opponent.

Edouard will be heading into the game with confidence having scored on his last two outings for the Hoops against Saints and away to RB Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League.

Those goals have contributed to a six-goal haul for the 20-year-old since making his move from Paris Saint-Germain permanent in the summer transfer window.

Celtic know a win will at least propel them above Hibs in the Scottish Premiership table and keep the pressure on league leaders Hearts.

Here’s hoping Edouard and his teammates are at the top of their game and pick up a vital three points.
