Celtic will be looking to get themselves as big a gap as possible in the title race now with Rangers surely set to start capitulating under the pressure.

They blew their chance to close the gap for a bit at the weekend at least and then we made them pay with our late win over Kilmarnock.

As there has been a lot this season, though, there was also plenty of controversy in the win with Scott Brown getting dismissed for his celebration and Kris Boyd having stuff thrown at him.

Indeed, he’s always going to come in for stick from us given his Rangers ties but the launching of stuff at players has to stop from all ends.

Anyway, John Hartson has waded in on the debate and has offered his sympathy for Boyd, though he himself knows that the verbal stuff at least won’t ever stop.

Writing for the Glasgow Evening Times, he said:

“So I had a fair bit of sympathy for Kris Boyd at the weekend. No-one should be subject to having something thrown at them. But when it comes to verbal abuse – and I am not saying it is right – you are going to get it having played for one side of the divide.”
