As quoted by the Scottish Sun, Simon Donnelly has said that he understands why Stuart Armstrong has decided to leave the club this summer.
The midfielder looks set to be a Southampton player next season barring anything unlikely and he leaves the club a serial title winner.
For many of us, though, there’s probably a tinge of regret that we’d have rather him stayed but, if he wants to go, then there’s no point him being here.
Certainly, I think we’ll be fine without him anyway and Donnelly has said he understands why a move to the Premier League has appealed to him:
“But I can understand his move. It’s a short career in football and he will obviously be getting a really good contract to go down and play in the Premier League.”
The Verdict
Armstrong could have made history with us by sealing 10-in-a-row in the coming years but he’s decided to jump ship and there’s no point thinking about that now.
A good player with obvious talent, we were fine without him last season when he was missing so the money we’re getting for him is a good deal when all’s said and done.
